If you were to ask yourself what a great life looks like, family, friends, good health and a good job are a few of the things that would come to mind. But for many of us something bigger, something more lofty would be in that mix as well. Something that when we look back on our lives we know we made a difference.
Educating a child, helping them onto a better, brighter future would have to rank up there at the top of things that would change a life.
An important consideration when giving is knowing that you’re NOT putting your hard earned money into an area that doesn’t have the same value on education as you do. Here are some excerpts from Rwanda’s President and the Educational Department: President Paul Kagame sees education for all as the single most important element in reducing poverty in Rwanda. The future of education in Rwanda will be based on the ideology of “inclusive education”, valuing all children as equals and providing them with opportunities for all to make the most of their skills and abilities.
The schools exist, the children see them, but so many of them can’t go because they don’t have the financial resources to pay for the school uniform and school supplies. Your donation changes THAT and more! We go a step further. Here’s what your monthly partnership of $30.00 does for a child:
- School fees
- Uniform & Shoes
- School supplies – textbooks, pen, paper
- Basic health care
- Weekly group activities where they learn social skills
- Spiritual development
Your help WILL make a difference in a child’s life!

Please note: It will seem odd when you look at some of the older ages of these school children. Unfortunately this is not odd in Rwanda. We’re many years out of the Genocide, but it also took this country many years to rebuild their infrastructure.
In the villages where these children live it has taken even longer. The school system backs the older children in and brings them up to the level they need to be at. These children take education very seriously and do their part to make this happen; they know education is not a given in their lives, they know how special it is to have it.
Please do not be hesitant to choose one of the older children. These are the next generation of wage earners and family men and women. We need to stop the cycle of poverty and we know one of those keys is education.
